Welding Rods and Welding Electrodes
Engweld stock a wide range of welding electrodes including mild steel (rutile), low hydrogen (basic), stainless steel, repair & maintenance and cellulosic in a variety of sizes from 1.6 - 5.0mm for a broad range of welding applications. Brands we work with include Bohler, ESAB, Lincoln Electric & Oerlikon.
Mild Steel Welding Electrodes
Mild steel welding rods provide a stable and quiet arc, offering low penetration. These features make them ideal for working with thin plates and for bridging wider gaps.
There are various types of Mild Steel Welding Electrodes, so make sure you select the correct type, as its properties should align with your application.
Low Hydrogen Welding Electrodes
Traditional welding electrodes will have a cellulosic moisture content of 4-6%. A low hydrogen electrode contains less than 0.6% moisture content within their coatings.
Stainless Steel Welding Electrodes
There are many types of Stainless Steel Electrodes, each offering slightly different properties, your usual applications of Stainless Steel Electrodes include:
When Welding Stainless Steel, the accepted rule of thumb is to weld it with either a higher grade of stainless steel electrode or the same grade of Welding Rod, Tig Wire or Mig Wire.
Cellulosic electrodes
Cellulosic welding electrodes are electrodes with a coating made up of organic materials, with roughly 30% of the weight of the coating being cellulose. Organic compounds decompose in the arc, releasing carbon dioxide, hydrogen and carbon monoxide, creating an arc with superior strength and hardness.
The main features of Cellulosic Electrodes are:
