Centre Punches, Pin Punches and Drift Punches

Engweld stocks a range of different types of punches including centre punches, pin punches, and drift punches. They are all types of hand tools used in metalworking and carpentry for making indentations or removing pins from materials.

A centre punch is a pointed tool used to make small indentations in a material, typically metal or wood, to mark the centre of a hole that needs to be drilled. It is usually made of hardened steel and has a knurled grip for easy handling.

A pin punch is a pointed tool with a thin tip and is used to drive out or remove pins, rivets, or other small fasteners from a material. It has a long, slender shaft and a tapered tip that allows it to fit into the small space between the pin and the surrounding material.

Drift punches are tapered tools used to align holes in metal pieces that are being bolted together. It is also used to remove pins or other fasteners that are stuck in a material. Drift punches have a wider tip than pin punches and are typically used for larger holes or pins.

Punches are typically made of hardened steel, which is a high-carbon steel that has been heat-treated to increase its strength and durability. Some punches may also be made of other materials such as brass or aluminium for specialised applications like when working with soft materials that could be damaged by a harder punch. Punches may also have a coating to make them resistant to corrosion and improve their appearance.

Cold Chisels - Cross Cut Chisel - Flat Chisels

A chisel is a type of hand tool used for cutting and shaping materials like metal, wood, or stone. In metalworking, chisels are often used for cutting, shaping, and removing metal. Chisels can also be used for splitting apart two pieces of metal that are welded or otherwise joined together.

There are different types of chisels and come in different shapes, designs, styles and sizes to suit different applications. The right chisel type will depend on the application.

Cold chisels are typically used for cutting or shaping cold metal, such as when making or repairing metal parts. They have a flat, wide blade with a sharp edge and a pointed tip for precision work. Cold chisels are typically struck with a hammer or mallet to drive the blade through the material.

Cross-cut chisels have a V-shaped blade with two angled edges that meet at a point, creating a cross-section that resembles an inverted V. They are used for cutting grooves or channels into materials like wood or stone, and are typically struck with a mallet or hammer.

Flat chisels have a straight, flat blade with a sharp edge, and are used for cutting or shaping a variety of materials, including wood, stone, and metal. They can be struck with a hammer or mallet to drive the blade through the material. Flat chisels come in a range of widths and thicknesses to suit different applications.

Engweld also stocks Hammers including Ball Pein Hammers and Chipping Hammers
