Flap Wheels / Abrasive Mops
Flap Wheels also known as abrasive mops are a type of abrasive used for the metal finishing, similar to flap discs, with spindle mounted wheels the most common. Unlike flap discs that are in a circular flat sheet shape, abrasive flap wheels are made of multiple overlapping small pieces or ‘flaps' arranged in a wheel formation bonded to a central hub. The design of flap wheels allows them to be used in hard-to-access areas such as the inside of pipes and tubes.
One advantage of flap wheels is that they are flexible and can conform to intricate shapes and contours. They are ideal for removal, deburring, cleaning, stock removal, blending and finishing applications, usually used in the metal fabrication, welding and polishing industries. You can also use flap wheels for satin finishing, which tends to produce a finer finish, or removing paint or rust from metals. Materials you may choose to finish using a spindle mounted flap wheel include metals like steel, iron and aluminium, plus wood and plastic.

Safety Considerations
Safety is crucial when working with flap wheels. Always wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to minimize the risk of injury.
