Hardfacing and Specialist MIG Welding Wires

It is typically used in applications where the surface of a metal component is subject to high levels of wear and abrasion, such as tools and machinery parts, driving rollers, digging tools, and so on.

There are different types of hardfacing MIG wires, each with specific properties and intended use including for use in high-temperature applications or for use in abrasive environments. Therefore, it is important to choose the correct one for your application.

Engweld stocks a variety of hardfacing wire wire in different diameters and packaging sizes to suit different welding applications. Diameters include 1.0mm and 1.2mm, and package sizes are available in 15kg.

The process of hardfacing with MIG wire is similar to MIG welding, but with the added step of applying the hardfacing wire to the surface of the base metal. This is done by feeding the wire through a MIG torch and applying it to the surface of the metal in a series of overlapping passes. The wire is typically applied in a specific pattern to provide maximum coverage and protection.

Engweld also stocks Mild Steel MIG Wire, Stainless Steel MIG Wire, Aluminium & Copper MIG Wire, Bulk Wires, Flux Cored Wires, and Mini MIG Wire Reels.

Also see MIG Welders to select which mig welding machine is correct for your welding application.
