Butane and Propane Gas Regulators

Propane and Butane gas regulators control the flow of gas from a propane gas cylinder to appliances. Gas regulators are an essential component to reduce the pressure of LPG in the cylinder to match the much lower pressure required by your appliance thus making it safe for your home, business, caravan, or motorhome. They ensure consistent pressure for safe and efficient use.

Butane and Propane are two forms of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). Propane and butane gas regulators serve similar purposes but differ in their pressure settings.

Propane regulators are designed to handle higher pressures, typically around 20psi. They are ideal for appliances like outdoor grills and heatings systems.

Butane regulators, on the other hand, cater to lower pressures, usually around 28-30 mbar (millibars). They are ideal for portable stoves, camping equipment, and smaller appliances due to its lower pressure. .

When choosing a gas regulator, it’s crucial to match it with the specific gas type (propane or butane) and the intended appliance.

An important aspect to note is the service life of your gas regulator which must be specified by the manufacturer. If it is not then the recommended service life is 10 years as long the regulator has been used according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Engweld also stocks butane and propane regulator accessories and welding gas regulators for industrial use including Single Stage Gas Regulators, Multi Stage Gas Regulators, Nevoc Gas Regulators, and High-Pressure Gas Regulators.

If you have any queries or need any help in choosing the right gas regulator for your appliance then please contact us and speak to one of our experts.
