Engweld’s Air Fed Welding Helmets Protect Welders From Cancer-Causing Fumes
Engweld supply air fed welding helmets that provide welders with clean air, preventing them from exposure to newly classified carcinogenic welding fumes.
Earlier this year, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) released a safety alert highlighting new scientific evidence from the International Agency for Research on Cancer suggesting that exposure to all welding fumes, including mild steel welding fume can cause lung cancer and kidney cancer.
Following the findings, The Workplace Health Expert Committee has endorsed the reclassification of mild steel welding fume as a human carcinogen.
Engweld, the suppliers of premium engineering and welding products, offers a comprehensive range of air fed solutions to protect welders from harmful welding fume in the working environment.
The two recommended stages of dealing with welding fumes are:
- Make sure welding fume released is controlled effectively by installing local exhaust ventilation.
- Protect the welder from breathing in any outstanding welding fume by issuing an air fed welding mask.
With enhanced warning signals, optical and audible alarms for low power, clogged filter and reduced airflow, the Pro-Line Air PAPR Unit ensures workers are protected, and compliance is met.
The air-fed welding mask comes with a smooth and clear status display, an ultra-quiet brushless motor, two-speed airflow control, audible & vibration warnings, large view pro-line welding & grinding helmet, removable Li-ion battery, and can run for 10+ hours.
If a flip-up visor welding and grinding helmet is required, Engweld recommend the new Speedglas G5-01. Designed for heavy-duty, high amperage welding and grinding, the flip-up G5-01 welding helmet connects to the 3M™ Adflo™ Powered Air Respirator to provide class TH3 respiratory protection.
The new G5-01 auto-darkening welding filter features the popular 3M Speedglas Natural Colour Technology for more realistic colour in the light state. This G5-01VC (Variable Colour) model also lets users select a warm, standard, or cool colour preference.
Both models are fully compliant with Health and Safety, and protect the wearer from the newly classified carcinogenic welding fume.
Technical advice and on-site demonstrations are available from all Engweld sales centres. Engweld also stocks all spares for the above air fed welding helmets such as replacement filters, hose covers, face seals and more.
