Engineers File Sets

Engineers file sets are a collection of files used by engineers and craftsmen to shape, smooth, and finish metal, wood, plastic, and other materials. These sets typically include a variety of different files, each with a specific shape and size, designed for different types of tasks.

Engineers files are made from hard and durable high-quality materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, or tungsten carbide. They are essential tools used in a variety of applications including metalworking, woodworking, jewellery making, and automotive repair.

A file set may include different file types like triangular, flat, three-edged, square, half-round, and round. Each file performs a different task such as deburring, chamfering, and polishing. Having a variety of files allows you to choose the right tool for the task at hand.

  • Flat files: are rectangular in shape and have teeth cut into both faces, making them useful for smoothing and shaping flat surfaces.
  • Round files: have a cylindrical shape and are used for enlarging holes, shaping concave surfaces, and removing material from curved edges.
  • Half-round files: have a curved cross-section and are useful for smoothing curved surfaces and removing material from inside curves.
  • Triangular files: have a triangular cross-section and are useful for filing corners, slots, and other tight spaces.
  • Square files: have a square cross-section and are used for filing and shaping square holes, slots, and edges.
  • Needle files: have large, rough teeth and are used for removing material quickly, typically from wood or plastic.
  • Rasp files: have large, rough teeth and are used for removing material quickly, typically from wood or plastic.
  • Diamond files: are coated with diamond particles and are useful for smoothing and shaping hard materials such as ceramic, glass, and hardened steel.
